Definition of Dedicated Hosting Plans
When we talk about hosting web servers, there are three major categories - shared web hosting web servers, VPS (virtual web hosting servers) and dedicated hosting servers. Shared web servers host numerous clients and therefore the resources per web hosting account are limited, virtual private server plans offer more server configuration liberty, but also influence other VPS servers on the hardware node if utilized imprudently, and dedicated servers give you the option to do everything you prefer without meddling with anyone else.
Why would you require a dedicated hosting server?
16 GB DDR4 ECC REG RAM
2x240 GB nvme Hard Drives
32 GB DDR4 ECC REG RAM
2x480 GB nvme Hard Drives
Dedicated servers are commonly much more expensive than shared hosting web servers or VPS servers. Why would anyone, then, want to use them? The answer is pretty simple. If your firm has a popular web page, or just has very explicit web server architecture requirements, the smartest option is a dedicated server. For somebody who is ready to invest in security and stability, the higher price is not a concern. You receive root-level access and can utilize 100 percent of the web server's system resources without anyone else availing of these system resources and interfering with your web sites.
Hardware configurations
Most web hosting service providers, including us at PIXELSPECK, provide several hardware architectures you can select from in consonance with your needs. The hardware configurations offer different varieties of microprocessors, a different number of cores, different RAM memory and hard disk drive sizes and different traffic usage quotas. You can select a hosting Control Panel, which is a convenient software tool if you wish to use the web server for website hosting purposes solely and prefer not to resort to a Secure Shell terminal for all the changes you will be making. We provide 3 types of hosting CP software - Hepsia, DirectAdmin and cPanel.
The hosting CP of your choosing
If you are a self-reliant Linux user (our hosting servers are running on Linux or other Unix-based Operating Systems), you could manage your dedicated server via an SSH connection exclusively. That, though, could be awkward, even more so if you choose to grant root privileges to somebody else who has less technical knowledge than yourself. This is why having Control Panel software activated is a bright idea. The Hepsia web hosting Control Panel interface that we offer does not include full server root access and is mostly suitable for someone who has multiple web sites that absorb a lot of resources, but desires to manage the web sites, databases and e-mailbox accounts using an intuitive hosting Control Panel. The DirectAdmin and cPanel hosting Control Panels, on the other hand, give you complete root-level access and have three access levels - root, reseller and user. If you plan to resell hosting packages rather than using the web server just for yourself, you should choose one of these two.
Web server monitoring and backup procedures
Last but not least, there is the issue of monitoring the dedicated hosting server and of backing it up. In case of a problem with your server, like an unresponsive Apache or a network outage, it is desirable to have some sort of monitoring system enabled. Here at PIXELSPECK the system administrators monitor all dedicated servers for ping timeouts, and, if you have a Managed Services package, they monitor the individual services on the dedicated hosting server too. Backups are also an extra option - the hosting supplier offers you data backups on our own backup web servers. You could choose a type of RAID that would permit you to have the same data on two hard drives as a precaution in the event of a disk drive failure, or in case someone whom you have ranted full server root access deletes something accidentally.
